Baby’s Favorite Toys!

My son is 10 months old at the time of writing this, and these are without a doubt the toys he’s loved the most so far. He is a very active baby who loves to move around and interact with his environment, so there have been a few things that absolutely do not hold his interest! But these have proven otherwise. It’s time to start holiday shopping and a lot of these items are on sale (or will be soon) so it’s the perfect time to buy! I will break these down into categories/stage so that it’s easier to decide what might be right for your baby at this time. Sending all good wishes to you and your little one during this season and during all the playtime to come 🙂

toys baby has loved-2-1

Learning & Fine Motor Skills

1. Sassy Stacks of Circles Stacking Ring STEM Learning Toys: This was the first stacker toy we gave our son. The large center holes and thick stand make it a good starting point for learning how to grab and place the rings properly. He still plays with this and is now a pro at it!

2. Stackable Water Cups: I couldn’t find the link to our exact ones but these are pretty much the exact same thing. We play with these in the bath! They are numbered, different colors, and have holes for water to drip through. My son loves to stack them and fill them with water + pour it out.

3. Silicone Stacker/Teether: Again I couldn’t find our exact one (pretty sure this was a gift) but I’ve linked a very similar one. There is also a set of Montessori toys that includes our exact stacker and a bunch of other fun learning toys that I’ll link here. We love stacking these and taking them apart, and my son loves chewing on them when he’s teething because they are silicone. It’s a win-win!

4. Melissa & Doug Rainbow Wooden Stacker: These stacking rings are wooden and the center holes are very narrow, making it the most challenging stacker toy we have. My son recently got this one down and loves stacking the rings in all different orders. I will say because the stacking rod is tall, wooden, and skinny, be careful with this one and use it during supervised play!

The Sitting Baby

5. VTech Turn and Learn Driver: My brother sweetly got this for my son and it stays at my parent’s house, but he loves playing with it every time we are over there. It is great for babies who can sit up and who are interested in grabbing things and things that make noise. There are so many handles and knobs to grab plus the steering wheel turns both directions, and it makes a lot of different sounds.

6. VTech KidiBeats Drum Set: We gave this to our baby when he was able to sit on his own, and he thought it was the greatest thing ever. He immediately tried to bang the drums with the drumsticks! He still loves to play with it now because he realizes that when he hits it, it lights up and makes fun sounds. It’s great as an intro to a musical instrument and for coordination + dexterity.

The Crawling Baby

7. Skip Hop Baby Crawl Toy – Follow Me Bee: Affectionately named “Mr. Bee” in our house, this thing is a winner! We put this out before baby could crawl, when he was a good sitter, and he would watch it move all around him. It encourages babies to start crawling by getting them to move side to side, forward and back while sitting and trying to grab the bee. Once they are crawling, it’s super fun to watch them chase after the bee on the cart while it zooms around the room. My son loves taking the bee off and putting him back on now too.

8. Fisher Price Poppity Pop Turtle: Once crawling became a breeze, toys like this became a huge hit for us. Baby loves to push it while crawling and loves the sound it makes. This one was a gift, which led to me buying item #9.

9. Fisher Price Poppity Pop Dump Truck: Same as #8 above, my son loves pushing this around while crawling and it makes the same popping sound! Truly it is so cute to watch him push these around and shake them to hear the rattle.

The Standing Baby

10. Fisher Price Mix & Learn DJ Table: We first played with something like this at a friend’s house and I immediately knew I would have to get one for us. Another great intro to musical instruments and it has 3 different settings based on baby’s age and stage. There are so many things to touch and tons of sounds and songs. It’s a great learning tool in so many ways but it’s also really fun and encourages standing and balancing. Definitely a 10/10 and has a permanent spot in our living room!

11. Skip Hop Baby Activity Center: You can put your baby in this before they are standing on their own (we did) but in my experience, they seem to like it a bit more when they have better balance and control of their legs! With a few different stations of learning toys attached to the top, and the ability for baby to spin a full 360 in the seat, this is perfect for entertaining baby and keeping them in one spot! My son loved it once he figured out he could turn himself in circles and see/play with all the different toys. (It’s great for babies who are able to stand up flat footed on the base but I wouldn’t put your baby in it if they have to stand on their tip-toes.) This is a bit on the pricey side, and it’s the same cost at Target, but it’s totally worth it if you can splurge a little bit.

12. Tiny Land Wooden Baby Walker: Once my son started pulling himself up to stand on things like the couch, and then started walking along the couch, I knew he was at a point where he would love to have a push walker. I wanted a wooden one rather than a plastic one – it’s very sturdy and great quality. The wheels are adjustable so you can control how fast they roll, which is very important for babies like mine who just want to run before they can even walk! Plus we love the Montessori activities on the front of the walker too. He pushes this thing around the house and I’ve also taken it outside a few times and he loved pushing it around out there!

These are the top items that my son has played with and that have kept him intrigued and entertained. Of course we have other toys that he likes but I wanted to pick the ones that really stand out as toys I would suggest for other babies. When you have a busy baby who is adventurous and on the move, it’s great to find things that benefit both of you in some way. We hope you get some of these items and love them as much as we do! 🙂 Let us know which ones are your faves!
